Thiess was part of the Tulla Sydney Alliance that delivered the Calder Freeway to Sydney Road section of the M80 Ring Road Upgrade, boosting traffic flow efficiency by 32 per cent. Under live traffic and challenging weather conditions, the project was safely completed on time and budget with minimal community impact, and left a legacy of innovation in road construction.
The upgrade was to improve the 38-kilometre M80 Ring Road, which extends from the Princes Freeway at Laverton North to the Greensborough Highway at Greensborough. The $2.25 billion project is jointly funded by the Australian and Victorian governments and provides critical access to Melbourne International Airport, the ports of Melbourne and Geelong, and rail freight terminals.
Thiess required a new logo that would encompass the 4 companies including VicRoads that would be involved in this huge project. The logo was to be a visual representation of the project and create a face to the team of people involved.
